Synopsis:

What does good nuclear professionalism look like in practice and why does it matter now? This session introduces the Nuclear Professionalism Standard® which defines the knowledge, behaviours and ethical responsibilities expected across the nuclear sector and will be followed by an engaging fireside discussion. We will explore what professionalism looks like in practice, how the standard can strengthen safety, security, regulatory confidence and public trust, while providing individuals with clearer pathways to professional recognition and career progression. We’ll also consider how employers can use the standard to support workforce development, assure professional capability and foster a consistent, high-performing culture across the nuclear sector.

Speakers:

Cynthia Hearing, Membership and Business Development Director, Nuclear Institute

Cynthia has over 20 years’ experience in the education and professional membership sectors and is a Member of the Institute of Leadership. She is the Membership and Business Development Director at the Nuclear Institute, responsible for driving membership growth, managing external stakeholder relationships, and promoting the adoption of professional standards across the nuclear sector.

Lynne Matthews FNucI, Director/Founder, LM Consultants

Lynne is Founder of LM Consultants, supporting the delivery of major nuclear programmes through strategic positioning and communications, stakeholder engagement and workforce capability. At a national level Lynne was appointed by the UK’s Nuclear Skills Taskforce to lead the trailblazing Destination Nuclear, a campaign bringing together civil and defence nuclear, industry, government and education to address critical skills challenges and strengthen the talent pipeline across the sector. She combines experience in developing workforce capability at major infrastructure scale with a strong background in stakeholder engagement and strategic communications. Lynne brings a system-level perspective on moving programmes from ambition into delivery, with a focus on collaboration, alignment and capability as critical enablers of success.

Lynne was recently appointed a Fellow of the Nuclear Institute and supports the OECD NEA and IAEA as a subject matter expert.
